Wedge-Tailed Eagle Anatomy

 

The wedged tail eagle or the "Aquila Audax" is the largest bird in Australia. They can measure from 85-106 cm length from head to tail, and it has a wingspan of 182-232 cm. Males can weigh 2-4kg and females can weigh 3.1-5.3kg It is known as a wedged tail because of it’s wedge-shaped tail. Its diet can consist from 30 percent to 90 percent rabbits. 

 

With a brown eye color and blackish-brown feathers, It's also known as the eaglehawk. Because of its strong wings and updrafts, the wedge-tailed eagle barely has to flap its wings. Its hearing and smell are weak because of its great eyesight. They are known for their "Binocular Vision" which lets it zoom in on prey by reshaping its eyes using pressure in a certain way
